What Is the Weather Like Today?

Humans perceive the world through their entire bodies. We cannot perceive the world through rational thought alone because the human body is surrounded by sensory receptors. We perceive the world through these multiple channels and only then process what we have perceived as information through the brain.

Yet for a long time, we have lived within a social convention that treats rational thinking performed by the brain as the primary virtue of cognition.

The NeuronWorks™ Protocol was developed to enhance organizational cognition—in other words, the cognitive capabilities of the people who constitute an organization. KPI analysis before and after the protocol is used to understand the current state, establish direction, identify gaps, and observe improvement.

Earlier, I introduced the Cloud UI, developed to represent and analyze the ambiguity of human cognition more faithfully. If KPI input itself is expressed as a range with blurred, cloud-like boundaries, why should its outcome return to a landscape of cold, rigid numbers?

The SaaS Platform

The SaaS developed by NeuronWorks Inc. is the NeuronWorks Platform.

The NeuronWorks Platform translates the entire process—from input to output and analysis—into the visual language of nature.

It is no longer simply a spreadsheet filled with numbers.

The output of the NeuronWorks Platform is a landscape.

Look outside the window.

There is ground, and there is sky. Some days are clear; others are cloudy. Midday is bright, while dawn and night are dark. Clouds float across the sky. Some spread broadly; others gather densely in one place. Sometimes many clouds are scattered across the horizon.

The NeuronWorks Platform represents data in much the same way.

For an organization to grow, both the Competency and Behavior of its members need to develop in a positive direction. Through an algorithm that maps each KPI category onto X, Y, and Z axes, NeuronWorks™ KPI results are represented within a three-dimensional space.

Each Competency category is represented through position, size, and density, much like clouds suspended in the sky.

Behavior is represented through the environment in which those clouds exist—the color, brightness, and saturation of the sky.

Reading Nature

A person with a weak learning attitude, low diligence, or limited engagement with the protocol may generate a landscape with a dark, overcast sky, approaching the darkness of night.

In contrast, someone who demonstrates a strong willingness to learn, participates diligently, and understands the philosophy of the protocol may be represented through a bright world beneath a clear blue sky.

Within that sky, the clouds are positioned in relation to a reference point: a house—or, depending on customization, the organization’s own building.

As a cloud moves farther from this reference point, it represents an improvement in capability. A cloud that initially hangs close overhead but gradually rises higher and moves farther into the distance over time indicates development in a positive direction.

It is almost as if the wind has carried away the cloud that once cast a shadow directly overhead.

Ultimately, a KPI result becomes a natural landscape.

But this landscape is not merely a picture.

Every element within it can be read as information.

There is a house. There is a sky. There are clouds. There is wind.

There is time.

And there is weather.

Every person and every organization develops a landscape of its own.

뉴런워크 프로토콜의 인지 풍경 (Cognitive Landscape)

오늘 날씨는 어떤가요?

인간은 세상을 온몸으로 인지한다. 이성으로만 인지할 수는 없다. 인간의 신체는 센서로 둘러싸여있기 때문이다. 전신을 둘러싼 모든 감각으로 세상을 인지한 후 비로소 그 감각을 뇌에서 정보로서 가공한다. 하지만 우리 인간은 두뇌로 이성적인 사고를 하는 것 만이 미덕이라는 사회적 인식을 오랫동안 갖고 살아왔다.

조직의 인지능력, 다시 말해 조직 구성원의 인지 능력 향상을 위해 뉴런워크 프로토콜이 개발되었다. 이 프로토콜의 수행 전과 후에 KPI 분석을 통해 현 상황 분석, 방향설정, 간극 발견, 향상도 확인 등을 파악한다.

앞서 인간 인지의 ‘모호성을 정확히 파악 및 분석’하기 위해 개발된 구름 UI를 소개하였다. KPI 입력을 구름과 같이 흐릿한 경계의 범위로 했는데 결과물이 차가운 숫자로 표현될 수는 없지 않겠는가.

SaaS 플랫폼

(주)뉴런워크의 SaaS는 ‘뉴런워크 플랫폼’이다. 뉴런워크 플랫폼은 입력부터 결과생성, 분석을 자연으로 치환하는 것이다. 더이상 숫자로 나타낸 엑셀 스프레드시트가 아니다. 뉴런워크 플랫폼의 결과물은 아름다운 풍경이다.

창 밖을 바라보라. 땅이 있고 하늘이 있다. 맑은 날도 있고 흐린 날도 있다. 한 낮은 밝고 새벽이나 밤은 어둡다. 하늘에는 구름이 있다. 구름은 넓게 퍼지기도 하고 한 곳에 모여있기도 하다. 여러 개의 구름이 흩어져 있기도 하다. 뉴런워크 플랫폼의 데이터 표현 방식은 마치 이 풍경과도 같다.

조직을 성장시키기 위해서는 조직 구성원의 능력(Competency)와 자세(Behavior)가 동시에 긍정적인 방향으로 향상 되어야 한다. 뉴런워크 KPI는 카테고리 당 X, Y, Z축으로 치환될 수 있는 알고리즘을 통해 결과물이 3차원 공간에 나타난다. Competency의 각 카테고리는 위치와 크기와 밀도로 나타난다. 마치 하늘에 떠있는 구름처럼 말이다. Behavior는 구름이 떠있는 환경, 즉 하늘의 색, 밝기, 채도로 표현된다. 

자연을 읽다

학습의 자세가 부족하거나 성실도가 낮고 프로토콜 참여도가 낮은 사람은 어둡고 흐리며 밤처럼 검은 하늘을 만들어낸다. 반대로 학습의 열의가 높고 성실히 임하며 프로토콜의 철학을 정확히이 이해한 사람은 푸른 맑은 하늘에 밝은 세상으로 표현된다.

그 하늘 속의 구름은 기준점인 집(혹은 커스터마이징에 따라 특정 회사의 사옥)으로부터 멀어질수록 능력이 향샹됨을 나타낸다. 초기에는 구름이 머리 위에 가까이 있다가 시간이 갈 수록 하늘 높이 떠올라 저 멀리 이동한다면 긍정적인 뱡향으로 능력이 향상되었다는 의미가 된다. 마치 바람이 불어 머리 위에 그림자를 만들던 구름을 저 멀리 떠나보낸 것과 마찬가지이다.

결과적으로 KPI결과물은 하나의 자연 풍경이다. 이 풍경은 그림 한 장이 아니라 모든 요소가 읽을 수 있는 정보다. 이 풍경 속에는 집도 있고, 하늘도 있고, 구름도 있고, 바람도 있다. 시간도 있고 날씨도 있다. 모든 사람, 모든 조직은 저마다 다른 풍경을 갖게 된다.
